ALUMINUM BRONZE

Aluminum bronzes are used for their combination of high strength, excellent corrosion and wear resistance. Aluminum bronzes are used in marine hardware, shafts and pump and valve components for handling seawater, sour mine waters, non-oxidizing acids, and industrial process fluids. They are also used in applications such as heavy duty sleeve bearings, and machine tool ways. Aluminum bronze castings have exceptional corrosion resistance, high strength, toughness and wear resistance and good casting and welding characteristics. The material is available in many different forms including rod, bar, tube, rectangular, and plate.

PHOSPHOR BRONZE

Phosphor Bronze, or tin bronze, is an alloy containing copper, tin and phosphorous. The addition of tin increases the corrosion resistance and strength of the alloy. The phosphorous increases the wear resistance and stiffness of the alloy. The phosphor bronzes have superb spring qualities, high fatigue resistance, excellent formability and solderability, and high corrosion resistance. They are primarily used for electrical products. Other uses include corrosion resistant bellows, diaphragms, and spring washers, bushings, bearings, shafts, gears, thrust washers and valve parts. Phosphor bronze C544 is on of the finest bearing alloys the industry has to offer. Phosphor Bronze is available in sheet, strip, plate, wire, rod and bar.

MANGANESE BRONZE

Manganese bronze contains small additions of manganese, iron and aluminum, plus lead for lubricity, anti-seizing and embeddibility. Like the aluminum bronzes, they combine very high strength with excellent corrosion resistance. Manganese bronze bearings can operate at high speeds under heavy loads, but require high shaft hardnesses and nonabrasive operating conditions. It is used in industrial applications such as gears and cams, wear plates, bushings, seal rings, piston heads and many more.

TIN BRONZE

Tin's principal function is to strengthen these bronze alloys. Tin Bronze is strong and hard and has very high ductility. This combination of properties gives them a high load-carrying capacity, good wear resistance and the ability to withstand pounding. The alloys are noted for their corrosion resistance in seawater and brines. Common industrial applications include fittings used to 550 F, gears, bushings, bearings, pump impellers and many more.

RED BRASS

Red brass is the most durable of all metals for commercial water pipe in the practical price range. It is excellent for resistance to dezincification and season cracking for which the high copper brasses are known. Moderate strength and good retention of spring properties, red brass is also specified for underground service lines since it offers greatest corrosion resistance to all types of potable waters. Applications include costume jewelry, fire hose couplings, zippers, condensers and heat exchanger tubes. Popular as an outdoor metal and has found for itself a very important place in modern architecture.

NAVAL BRASS

Naval Brass is the classic marine, high strength and corrosion resistant alloy containing nominally 60% copper, .75% tin and 39.2% zinc.  It is widely used in marine construction where a strong, corrosive resistant and hard material is required. It is suitable for both salt and fresh water applications. Naval brass is used in marine applications such as propeller shafts, marine hardware, decorative fittings, shafting, propeller shafts and turn buckles.  There are also many industrial applications such as welding rod, condenser plates, structural uses, valve stems, balls, heat exchanger tube, aircraft turn buckle barrels, dies, golf ball production and many more.

FREE MACHINING BRASS

UNS C36000 is the most versatile and commonly used copper ally bar stock used in both the North and South American Markets, second only to copper itself! It is used excessively to make an indescribable amount and variety of screw machine products. It's 100% machinability stems from a favorable interaction between the material's basic structure and a few percents of lead. The result is an alloy with good engineering properties and the ability to be machined at an extremely low cost.

BERYLLIUM COPPER

Beryllium Copper Strength

One of the highest strength copper based alloys available on the market today is beryllium copper, also known as spring copper or beryllium bronze. The commercial grades of beryllium copper contain from 0.4 to 2.0 % beryllium. The small ratio of beryllium to copper creates a family of high-copper alloys with strength as high as alloy steel. The first of the two families includes High strength with moderate conductivity: C17200 & C17300. Accompanied by the second family, High conductivity with moderate strength: C17500 & C17510. The principle characteristics of these alloys are their excellent response to precipitation-hardening treatments, excellent thermal conductivity and resistance to stress relaxation.

Applications of Beryllium Copper

Beryllium copper and its variety of alloys are utilized in very specific, and often tailor made applications such as oilfield tools, aerospace landing gears, robotic welding, and mold making applications. Additional Non-magnetic properties make it ideal for down-hole wire line tools. These specific applications are the reason this copper is known as spring copper and other various names.

OXYGEN FREE COPPER

Oxygen-Free copper is produced by the direct conversion of selected refined cathodes and castings under carefully controlled anaerobic conditions to prevent any contamination of pure oxygen-free metal during processing. Characteristics of oxygen free copper are high electrical and thermal, high ductility, ease of welding, high impact strength and low volatility under high vacuum.

UNS C10100 Oxygen Free Electronic Copper

UNS C10200 Oxygen Free Copper

CADMIUM COPPER

When cadmium is added to copper the material becomes more resistant to softening at elevated temperatures. The more cadmium that is added the more heat resistant the material becomes. Cadmium copper is used in applications such as trolley wire, heating pads, electric blanket elements, spring contacts, connectors, and high strength transmission lines. It is also used for soldering applications, particularly to join components in automobile and truck radiators and semi-conductor packaging operations.

UNS C16200 Cadmium Copper

UNS C16500 Cadmium Tin Copper

LEADED COPPER

Lead is added to many copper alloys, making all types of free machining alloys. Lead does not affect the structure and properties of copper because it is practically insoluble in solid copper. Lead coppers are categorized as low lead alloys, or free machining alloys and high lead alloys. In the free machining alloys, the lead acts as chip breaker and lubricant making these alloys easier to machine than their non-leaded counter parts. The high lead copper alloys are used in bearing applications.

COPPER NICKEL

Copper nickel alloys are very corrosion resistant to sea water as well as thermally stable.
